Power Water Early Careers Pilot
Yesterday, 9D took part in the Power Water Early Careers Schools Pilot, an interactive program designed to give students insight into real-world roles in the utilities sector.
Students were placed in a simulated emergency scenario following Cyclone Otto, where they acted as Power Water emergency response teams. Their tasks included restoring power and cleaning the water supply, critical services needed after a natural disaster.
The session focused on problem-solving, teamwork, and clear communication, while also introducing students to career pathways in engineering, science, energy systems, and public communications.
As part of the pilot, students also provided feedback to Power Water to help improve the experience. The goal is to expand this program so more schools can access it in the future.
It was a valuable hands-on learning opportunity that connected classroom knowledge with practical challenges faced in the field.
