Year 10 Endeavour Week 2025
While some Year 10 students travelled to Mt Hotham for a week of skiing and fun in the snow, others stayed in Darwin and took part in a local program full of hands-on activities, community engagement and outdoor exploration. Here's what the Darwin group got up to:
Monday 16 June – Cooking and Mini Golf
Students started the week with a visit to Saffrron Restaurant in Parap for a cooking class with the head chef. After preparing their own meals, they enjoyed a sit-down lunch before heading to Gardens Park Golf Links. In the afternoon, students teamed up for a mini-golf competition, with trophies awarded to the winning pair.
Tuesday 17 June – Service Learning and Waterfront Activities
The morning was spent at the Melaleuca Refugee Centre, where students learned about the work of the organisation and its support for refugees and asylum seekers.
In the afternoon, students had free time at the Darwin Waterfront to choose their own activities, such as swimming in the lagoon, fishing off the wharf or grabbing lunch with friends.
Wednesday 18 June – Litchfield Cascades
Students took a day trip to Litchfield National Park, starting with a bushwalk to the Upper Cascades. After a morning tea break and fitting of life jackets, students swam in the rock pools and explored the area. It was a good opportunity to enjoy the Territory’s natural environment.
Thursday 19 June – Tiwi Islands Cultural Visit
A full-day excursion to the Tiwi Islands began with an early ferry ride from Cullen Bay. On arrival, students visited a local school and joined in community activities. They later toured the island, visiting the museum, the church and learning about Tiwi history and culture. The group returned by ferry in the afternoon and was picked up from school in the evening.
Friday 20 June – Fishing and Farewell
The week ended with brunch at Cornerstone Café, followed by a visit to Barramundi Adventures. Students received a fishing lesson, practised their skills and took part in a friendly fishing competition. The day wrapped up with a debrief back at school.
Thanks to all staff and community organisations involved in making this program possible!
