Year 9 Students Embark on the Rite Journey
On Tuesday, Year 9 students took their first steps in The Rite Journey, a program designed to support and celebrate them and their families through their transition into adulthood. This special initiative not only supports personal growth but also includes families and mentors in the process, ensuring that students feel supported as they navigate this important stage of life.
The program began with two key ceremonies: The Calling and The Departure.
Students took time to reflect on their childhood, expressing gratitude for their experiences so far. This moment symbolised the beginning of their journey toward adulthood. Parents, carers, and mentors joined the students in a quiet space to reflect and connect. Together, they shared letters they had written to one another, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of their relationships.
A powerful part of the evening involved students writing down a childish behaviour they wished to leave behind. In a symbolic act of growth and change, they then tossed these notes into a fire, signifying their commitment to personal development.
As the year progresses, students will continue their journey, gaining valuable insights and skills that will help them step confidently into adulthood. We look forward to witnessing their growth and transformation!
