Physical and Health Education

Physical and Health Education within the MYP at Good Shepherd Lutheran College aims to empower students to understand and appreciate the value of being physically active and develop the motivation for making healthy lifestyle choices. Physical and Health Education learning experiences foster the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that can contribute to a person’s balanced and healthy lifestyle. The purpose for engaging in Physical and Health Education is for learners to be empowered to make informed decisions and promote positive collaboration.

Learners engage in learning experiences that focus on both learning about and learning through physical activity. Through rigorous, inquiry-based learning experiences within Physical and Health Education, learners can appreciate and respect the ideas of others, and develop effective collaboration and communication skills. Learners are given the opportunity to develop enjoyment, engagement and confidence in physical activity that learners need in order to achieve and maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
