'Decomposition'

My artwork titled ‘Decomposition’ depicts a dying plant, this was to represent the impact of modern societies neglect to the planet. This artwork used block ink and extender, these are common inks used in lino printing.

My artwork was inspired by the lack of care for the planet, resulting in the death of ecosystems and animal species through climate change. I was inspired by Franz Marc as I believe that his art shaped the course of abstract art and its acceptance in art history, I was inspired by his use of bright colours and decided to use the green colour rather than using a darker toned colours for the pot of the plant. I positioned the layers of the inks to be separated and unaligned in attempt of giving an abstract effect to my artwork.
