Untitled
By Cady, Year 9
My artwork (Untitled) represents how I view the world. There is an eye in the middle which is meant to be my eye, then there is a splash of color around it representing how I see certain things and how a lot of things bring me joy. The black and white checkers for the background represent how the world is black and white.
When I was creating this art piece I sketched the eye in the middle and then drew the drips in around my eye. I used watercolour paint for the splash to show that it doesn’t need to be neat and perfect, and so that the blend would be smoother. The black and white checkered background was a decision I made on a whim on one of my tester pieces and I thought it represented what I was trying to draw perfectly, so I put it in my final art piece. What inspired my artwork was Leonardo da Vinci and how he could show parts of people’s identities on paper and canvas.
My big idea in my artwork is to show how I see the world and to show different parts of my identity. For example: the rainbow shows my zest and my youth, while the black and white aspects show how the world is and the little parts of my life that are boring. My thoughts of the overall outcome on this art piece are that I could definitely improve it if I had a clearer image of what it was going to look like in my mind, and if I had the techniques I needed to pull off the background. A part in my artwork that I enjoy is the eye in the middle, because it does look like an eye and it is what I was trying to draw because it represents what art style I was aiming for in my artwork.
